ABOUT
Dr. Atsushi Hasegawa is an Associate Professor of Japanese Linguistics in the Department of East Asian Languages & Literatures at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa.
Born and raised in Tokyo, he has always been fascinated by the world and its people. He has been teaching Japanese at various institutions for over 20 years. Prior to Hawaii, he taught at Purdue University, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Middlebury College, New York University, and the University of Kentucky.
At UHM, he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Japanese language, sociolinguistics, and applied linguistics.
His research interests include language pedagogy, classroom interaction, and language socialization in various multilingual contexts.
